CMS + NHSN
The NHSN is not the fining entity you need to worry about. If you receive an incitement letter (fine) for COVID-19 reporting non-compliance, it will be from CMS, and it typically takes form as witholding on a facility's reimbursement.
Costly
More than $15 Million in fines have been issued to Nursing Homes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Facilities can recieve a CMP (Civil Money Penalty) of up to $1,000 per day for non-compliance.
